Week Ten.
If this is your first time reading my blog, I have a goal to do at least ONE random act of kindness a week for a year. If you want to learn more, check the links below.
Well, first off Happy New Year to all of you! I hope you spent your time with people you love and will continue to lift you up all year long. I spent mine with close friends and simply watched the NYC ball drop. I don’t really drink anymore, but I did enjoy a few yummy mimosas!
I was ran ragged this week at work and didn’t have time during the week to commit the random act of kindness. This left me with Saturday, New Years Eve. Every time I was somewhere I could commit one, no one was around to receive one.
Me and one my best friends, Mira, were running a few errands before going to the party. We went to get champagne… then we needed orange juice… and food. No one near for a random act of kindness. 3 hours before midnight we went to Quik Trip (a local gas station) JUST so I could find a person.
We each got some water and went to the counter. NO ONE was in there. I offered the clerks a drink on me. Not that kind of drink.. Like a coke or something. They refused. Thankfully, a young girl was walking up the the counter.
I offered to pay for her chips. It was all she had, but I HAD to reach my goal. She asked if I was sure, and then let me pay for it. She thanked me. Then her father asked how much money she needed for the chips. “That lady paid for them.” Then he thanked me. Then walking out of the store, she told ANOTHER person I had paid for her chips.
It was truly a simple act. However, she expressed a great bit of gratitude. I love that I could help her end her year on a good note. A little blessing here and there for someone is always nice.
I really am looking forward to finding a great random act of kindness next week. I don’t know what, but it’s going to hit me.
Make the most of your new year and always strive for great things.
God bless,
SayrahAnne
