We are around one week away from Christmas. 

I needed to finish up my shopping, so I decided to take the oldest child I was a nanny for who is also my godsister. We hit many stores. TONS. We have a Super Target. It’s awesome. So as a treat for 6 year old Kennedy, we went to Starbucks inside the Target for her being such a good girl. 

I see the perfect opportunity to finally do a raok I see OFTEN. Pay for someone else’s coffee. I was kind of upset though, because there was NO one behind me. So I ordered Kennedy a kids Peppermint hot cocoa (which is delicious), when finally a young woman stood behind me in line.

I told her to order whatever she pleases, and of course the “no thank you” comes. I normally convince the person after insisting. This time, the barista actually told the woman “She’s full of the Christmas spirit. Consider it a gift.”

Then I explained to the woman my goal. Both the barista and the young woman started talking about how it was awesome that I was doing such a thing. I told them it was only right because the Lord has surely blessed me, so I must try and do the same. 

The woman thanked me again, and left. The barista then continues to tell all of her co-workers what I did as well as my goal. “People like you are what gives me faith there are good people left in the world.” It’s truly humbling to hear such kind words. She kept a smile on the rest of the time I sat with Kennedy, and then we left. 

I know it’s not much. To do such little small things…. But those little things make all the difference. We all have the ability to be THE CHANGE. I’m doing what I can with the little I have.
